Journal Introduction

Today is my 22nd birthday. Based on my goals to be retired by 35, I have 13 years from now to accumulate enough assets.

I’ve decided to start posting a public journal to this blog. The purpose of which is many fold: So that I can help you, you can help me, and I have a place to layout my thinking and goals, whilst being able to refer back to past journal entries at any time. I intend to create a journal format which nicely details all of my financials for the month, and shows some pretty pictures too. I have been tracking all of my expenditures for the last 6 months. On the first of every month (or soon after!) I will be posting a journal update on the month’s progress. This post signifies the starting point of a 13 year (aiming to be quicker) journey to financial independence. So, without further ado, here is my current state as of November 14th, 2012.

Current Savings: $15,797.01

Current Savings Rate: 66%

A few months ago, I outlined my 13 year plan to financial independence, and it began at age 22 with $12,500 in assets. Starting almost $3,300 ahead puts a smile on my face; it is a great start! Let’s keep the momentum going!
