Life With a Brain is here to serve as an outlet for a man who thinks he can use his brain to post information that someone might find useful. Perhaps that’s you!
I plan to retire before 35 instead of 65. I want to eat a diet consisting of all natural foods so that I can be full of life. I want to travel the world for years at a time, instead of 2 weeks per year. I want to be a full-time parent with my lover, because that is best for my child. I want to be able to enjoy outdoor activities when the weather is nice, not drive to work to sit in a cubicle and see it out the window.
The world has been corrupted by people governed by their insatiable lust for money. Misinformation has been spread, and harmful behaviours have been encouraged. Imaginary divisions between people have been created by religion, race, countries, even your preferred retailer (Microsoft vs. Apple). Oneness has been lost. We lost touch of the interconnectedness of all of us on this small rock. Thinking critically seems to be a lost skill. Though I don’t have a team of marketers and billions of dollars to spread my thoughts, I hope they find their way to you and help you in your life.
I choose to think that nothing in my life ever goes wrong. Everything has something to teach me, even the things I don’t understand or don’t like.
I choose to be content with who I am rather than trying to please others by being unauthentic. It is okay, as long as I am not hurting anyone in the process. I have a right to be who I am.
I choose to release my ideas of what is true or false, right or wrong, possible or impossible, realistic or unrealistic and examine all of the beliefs I have.
I choose to never cling on to my beliefs; I accept that ALL of them could be wrong and I am prepared to change them as I absorb new information. I will never foolishly hold onto beliefs in the face of evidence to the contrary.
I choose to value all life, regardless of the shape, size, gender, or whether it swims, flies, buzzes, or moos.
I choose to fuel my body rather than tickle my taste buds with food. I want my body to thrive, it is a complex machine that I am lucky to control. I will take care of it.
I choose to live with minimal belongings. The more I have, the more enslaved I am. I don’t need to burden myself with many material things.
I choose not to buy things that I do not need. Buying in excess would be stealing from myself.
I choose to live my life however I want. This is not selfish. It is selfish to demand someone else live their life the way I want.
I choose to be open to new ideas and concepts.
I choose to think for myself, and accept information from all sources to make a critical decision of my own, rather than blindly accept information from any source as truth.
I choose to know that my life is a product of all of the choices I have made until now, and that no one else is responsible for my circumstances.
I choose to avoid purchasing things under the guise of it bringing happiness or freedom. They only demand more things and further enslave me.
I choose not to be sedentary. My body is a dynamic masterpiece that deteriorates without use. I will perform regular maintenance to keep it in top condition.
I choose to live in harmony with animals. It is not necessary to eat them to live, so I won’t.
I choose to love rather than hate. There is enough hate in the world. I will use my heightened awareness to project love.
I choose not to follow immoral or idiotic laws created based on fear or fiction.
I choose to believe that I can do anything I put my mind to.
I choose to avoid mass media, on the basis that it will brainwash me in ways that I don’t even realize.
I choose to never work a crappy job unless I am saving a large portion of the income to become financially independent.
I choose to raise my family rather than work for the money to pay someone else to raise my family.
I choose to be as aware as I can be, making conscious choices that are best for my well-being, and the future of Earth and all it’s inhabitants.
I choose to live a fully awakened life.
I want to challenge many norms in search of a better life than the normally prescribed standard. I will value truth, logic, and reason over social acceptance and money. You can be sure that when you read my blog, it is the truth as I believe it!
